The Importance of Air Filtration

Air Pollution

It is proven that the quality of air inside your home or business can be just as bad, if not worse, than the air outside on a city street without proper air filtration. There are a lot of different ways to go about the health and safety of your employees, customers and family. But one of the best and cheapest ways (and often overlooked) to protect all of them is the filter in your HVAC unit.

Humans breathe about 67 pounds of air every single day, including dust particles and other particulates that come with it. Common indoor air pollutants can be very harmful to us. Some of these include: Formaldehyde, fungi, and various other VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds). So having a good filter in your units and changing it on a schedule can eliminate these particulates and provide a healthy environment for your employees, customers and family.

Other important factors for having good filtration includes:

-Protecting the decor of occupied spaces

-Reducing the maintenance of building interiors by reducing the frequency of washing or wiping down windows and fluorescent fixtures

-Protecting paintings, tapestries, and other items of historic or cultural value

-Eliminating fire hazards by removing lint and other materials that might accumulate in ductwork.

-Extending the life of perishable products by removing airborne mold and bacteria

Since it can be proven that the air we breathe is often contaminated, it is important to remember to change your filter regularly. Doing that can help reduce and eliminate dirty air out of your home or business and provide a clean and healthy environment.

How often should I change my filters?

The frequency in which you change your filters can depend on a lot of things. Type of industry, unit, filter media, filter depth, environment, etc. Most of this criteria is for bigger establishments, though. When it comes to your home or a small business, there are some standards to follow.

Home- For your home, you typically want to change your filter every 3 months--weather pending. There is nothing wrong if you want to change it monthly either. That will just ensure your getting more filtered air and a more healthy living environment.

Business- If you have a restaurant you NEED to change your filters monthly. You cannot afford to have your food contaminated by moldy, unclean air. If you have an office building, the recommended frequency is 2 months. This will help you retain clean air throughout your building.

Of course every scenario is different, so if you would like more information on what type of filters you should use and the frequency to change them, call us! We are more than happy to go and give you a free, no obligation estimate for service or supply. 806. 791. 2299
